Tour Summary
The six days trek is a tough trek but worth taking it for incomparable beauty and tranquility. And other six days tour will take you through Thimphu, Punakha and Haa. The six days treks will take you into an area adorned with a multitude of pristine, crystal clear lakes and natural landscapes. As you walk amidst the sparkling lakes you’ll be treated to spectacular views of the entire Himalayan mountain range and some of the world’s highest peaks including Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Masang Gang, Jichu Drake, Gangche Ta and others.
This trek is entirely dedicated to visiting some of the more beautiful lakes and leisure. The trail also takes you through several Bhutanese villages so you can have a good idea of traditional Bhutanese village life as you make your way back from the lakes.
In addition to the trekking, you visit Thimphu the capital of Bhutan and Punakha the old capital of Bhutan as well as winter palace of the Je Khenpo the chief abbot of Bhutan. And certainly you won’t like to miss the visit of Takshang ‘the tiger’s nest in Paro.
Detail itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Paro
On arrival at the Paro International Airport, trekkers will be driven to the hotel. After lunch trekkers will visit cultural attractions in Paro including the National Museum of Bhutan, Rinpung Dzong and explore the Paro town.

Day 2: Hike to Paro Taktsang
Trekkers will hike to the Tiger’s Nest. Paro Taktsang or the Tiger’s Nest is a Buddhist monastery perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro valley. It takes 2 hours hike through the pine forests to reach the site. From the monastery, the panoramic view of the Paro valley is spectacular.

Day 3: Paro – Thangthangkha
On the first day of trek, trekkers will be driven to Shana. The drive to Shana passes through the Drugyel Dzong (The Fort of the Glorious Drukpas) From Shana, trekkers will follow the Paro River to the first campsite. If the weather permits, trekkers will have the view of the Mount Jomolhari from the campsite.
Day 4: Thangthangkha – Jangothang
The hike to the base at Jangothang is scenic. The narrow valley begins to open up and trekkers will come across many yak herders’ winter houses. Lunch will be served at this place. The campsite for the night is below a ruined fortress at the base of Mount Jomolhari at an altitude of 4080 meters.
Day 5: Halt at Jangothang
Trekkers will halt at the base for acclimatization. During the day, trekkers can engage in hikes to the lake in the area and take in the gigantic view of the Mount Jomolhari.
Day 6: Jangothang – LingshiAfter a day of acclimatization, trekkers will resume their climb up to Nyelila Pass and descend to the camp site. Trekkers will cover 18 kilometers and walk for about 7 hours.
Day 7: Lingshi – ShoduThe hike to Shodu will peak at 4820 meters at Yelila Pass. This is the highest elevation trekkers will experience through this trek. With the clear weather, trekkers can view Mount Tsherimgang and Mount Masagang.
Day 8: Shodu – BarshongThe trail to Barshong follows the Thimphu River. The campsite is at an altitude of 3710 meters.
Day 9: Barshong – DolamkenchoTrekkers will gradually descent through the thick forests to Dolamkencho.
Day 10: Dolamkencho – DodenaThe final leg of the trek, trekkers will enter into the Jigme Dorji National Park and exit through Dodena from which the trekkers will be driven to the hotel.
Day 11: Thimphu SightseeingAfter a rejuvenating and restful night at the hotel, trekkers will do cultural sightseeing in Thimphu which includes, a visit to the largest Buddha Statue in the world, Thimphu Dzong (Fortress) which houses the Office of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. Other attractions include the Takin Preserve, Folk Heritage Museum and National Institutes of Arts and Crafts.
